Installation Note 39865: The SAS® 9.2 Metadata Server configuration becomes unresponsive while deleting the person.xml object

DetailsDownloadsAboutRate It

The SAS 9.2 (TS2M2) installation runs without error. However, the configuration phase might become unresponsive indefinitely at Stage 3: Configure Metadata ► SAS Metadata Server Configuration. If this happens, first work through the suggestions that are documented in SAS Note SAS Note 39714 "The SAS® 9.2 installation might fail during the SAS® Metadata Server configuration step."

If the problem still persists, then verify the following:

  1. Open the metadatasrv_configureMetadata_date-time.log. The default location is C:\SAS\configuration-directory\Lev1\Logs\Configure. Go to the bottom of the file to see whether this is the last entry:

    [delete] Deleting C:\Docume~1\SAS\Locals~1\Temp\_setup20814 \MetadataDeployment\person.xml

  2. Go to the configuration directory C:\SAS\configuration-directory\Lev1\Logs\Configure. Do you only see these files?

          getMacroVariable.log
          getSystemOption.log
          cfgwizard_initializeConfigDir_M_date-time.log
          deployment_log.txt
          metadatasrv_config_status.properties
          Person_deployFile.xml
          metadatasrv_configureMetadata_date-time.log

  3. Go to the Services window. Click Start ► Run and type services.msc. Search for SAS [configuration-directory-Lev1] SASMeta - Metadata Server to see whether this service listed.

If all of the above are true, submit a problem to SAS Technical Support and send the following files:

  1. the sdw.log located at C:\Documents and Settings\userID-erforming-nstallation\Local Settings\Application Data\SAS\SASDeploymentWizard\9.2
  2. the metadatasrv_configureMetadata_date-time.log
  3. the system.nfo file. Click Start ► Run, or you can type msinfo32.exe, which will open the System Information window. Click File ► Save and type system for the filename and leave it as a .nfo file.

After you submit this information, Technical Support will send you explicit instructions and a JAR file to enable you to complete the installation process.
